If you have ever admired the way colour melts from deep indigo into soft sky blue on one of our dresses, you have witnessed ombre dyeing in action. It is one of the most delicate techniques in our atelier, and it is entirely done by hand.

Dip, Lift, Repeat

Our artisans begin with fabric dipped fully into a dye bath, then gradually lift it out, inch by inch, over several rounds. The part of the cloth submerged longest absorbs the most colour, while the section lifted early stays pale. Because it is controlled entirely by hand and eye, no two ombre pieces graduate in quite the same way. Some fades are soft and barely-there, others deep and dramatic, but each one is unrepeatable.

Pairing Ombre with Block Print

Several of our pieces layer an ombre base beneath a hand-block printed border, combining both crafts in a single garment. The result is a fabric that tells two stories at once: the gradual poetry of the dye, and the precise rhythm of the carved block. When you wear one, you are wearing weeks of skilled handwork disguised as effortless colour.
